Schools
If you’re involved in the care or education of young people, you’ll find a wealth of resources for addressing the issue of head lice here.
We’ve designed this section to help school staff deal with the issue of head lice – including ways to let parents know if an outbreak occurs. Included are a range of downloadable, free-to-use materials – all designed with your professional responsibilities in mind.
The simple fact is that people of any age can catch head lice – it’s just that they’re most common in children, particularly those of primary school age. That’s because children ‘work and play’ closely together at school - and close, head to head, contact is how head lice spread.
While the primary responsibility for the detection and treatment lies with the parent / guardian of the child – and not the school - the information in this section gives advice we hope you find helpful.
